Home Lighting System Lampholders

The majority of pendant lampholders are of moulded plastic and of BC (Bayonet Cap) pattern for use with the ordinary electric light bulb. These lampholders have cord grips for use with flexible cord plain pendants but are threaded for fixing direct to wall lights and pendant fittings (other than plain pendants).

Another version is the SBC (small bayonet cap) lampholder used with SBC candle lamps of the plain and twisted patterns.

SBC lampholders

The SBC (Small Bayonet Cap) lampholder is fitted to wall lights and to multi-light pendants for candle lamps and other spec bulbs having an SBC cap.

Batten lampholders

Originally designed for light battens on t theatre stage, these are really low-priced complete lighting fittings for use where there is limited headroom and in other cc fined spaces. They are also installed in bat rooms, WC’s and in kitchens as an alt native to a pendant fitting.

Skirted batten lampholders

When fitted in the bathroom and in similar situations, the batten lampholder (or any lampholder) should have a deep HO (Hon Office) pattern skirt. This is to prevent person, when changing a bulb, touching the metal clamp while the bulb is making contact with the live pins of the lampholders.

Modern designs of batten lampholders have loop-in facilities and are versions the loop-in ceiling roses. Heat-resisting types are available which, in many situations, are essential to prevent overheating of the lampholder and wiring.
