Electrical Appliance Not Always Electric, Small Appliance is a BIG Business

Electrical Appliance Home Safety Precautions

Don’t stick your finger in a electrical socket or use an electrical shaver while in the bath. You thought you knew all the electrical safety precautions didn’t you (well maybe the above mentioned two) but here are a couple electrical safety precautions that you may not have thought of, until you yourself ran out of the house with a fancy hairstyle.

  • Avoid overloading electrical plugs. Find out which electrical plugs are connected to the various electrical circuits and distribute your electrical appliances accordingly, especially where electrical dryers, electrical kettles and electrical heaters are concerned.

  • Use electrical adapters and electrical multi-plugs before you have the Tower of Pisa in electrical plug form.
  • If you notice a frayed electrical cord, replace or repair it immediately.
  • Avoid having electrical cords run over walkways or where people can trip over them (or where dogs and children can chew on them).
  • If there are electrical sparks or smoke coming from any electrical appliance, it is the universe’s way of telling you that it’s not happy. Unplug it immediately. If you can, see to it yourself, or have it serviced as soon as possible. It may even be cheaper simply replacing it.
  • Don’t stick a knife or fork in a electrical toaster that is still on; you may get more than you bargained for.
  • Keep electricity and water as far away as possible from each other. This would include wet hands and plugs, electrical hairdryers and electrical bathtubs, electrical lawnmowers and wet grass; and last but by no means the least, an electrical fire and a hosepipe — use a dry-chemical fire extinguisher if possible.
