Unplug the Fridge power cord before servicing the Fridge. Move the Fridge out from the wall. Use care when moving the Fridge, because the metal feet can tear or damage the floor.
Open the freezer door and remove the plastic breaker strips at the front of freezer section. NOTE: When removing plastic breaker strips, heat them with a low- wattage (40-60) light bulb for 5 to 7 minutes. Heat will make the plastic more pliable and less susceptible to breakage.

Locate the wires in the cabinet that are attached to the defrost heater terminals. Remove the wires from the heater terminals by pulling out with fingers. Remove the screws and clamps that secure the defective heater to the evaporator coil. Next, remove the defrost heater.
NOTE: Exercise care when working around the evaporator coil and removing the defective defrost heater. The fins are very sharp and can cause cuts and abrasions to the fingers and hands. Wear light-duty work gloves when working around the evaporator coil.
Install the replacement defrost heater by following the installation steps provided in the replacement part defrost heater kit. If no installation procedure is provided, reverse the above steps.
Refer to the previous section, “To Replace the Defrost Heater,” for the procedure to remove the breaker strips and evaporator back plate. Then, locate the two wires in the cabinet wiring that are attached to the defrost termination switch. Remove the wires from the termination switch. Next, remove the clamp and lift out the termination switch.
Install the replacement defrost termination switch by mounting it in the same position as the defective part that was removed. Follow instruction provided with the replacement defrost termination switch. If no installation steps or procedures are provided with the replacement defrost termination switch kit, reverse the above steps.
